What to Wear: Middle Ages

Today I went to this place that had a Medieval theme exhibit. I thought this would make a good post.

What to Wear: If you go through a time warp to the Middle Ages.

The Middle Ages started around the 5th century (401 to 500 AD) and ended around the 15th century (1401 to 1500). Only wealthy people could dress in fashion in the early Middle Ages. People that were not wealthy dressed in wool, leather, and cloth. So here we go on a fashion journey through the Middle Ages!

In the ladies wore dresses with narrow waists, long, tight sleeves, and long skirts. Headdresses were also in style, here are some examples of headdresses often worn by women.

This is called a Butterfly headdress, but I like to call it the Queen Amidala. It's very oddly shaped and was often worn by the wealthy.

This style is called a Heart-shaped headdress.
This one looks Queen Amidala-ish, too!

Headdresses are probably the weirdest things about the fashion back then,
but some people might think pointy shoes are the weirdest though.

Corsets were often used to add drama to the women's outfit and waist. Italian silk velvet, was the most luxurious, and hard to get fabric. So if you are time warped to the middle ages, wear long dresses, exotic fabric and flamboyant headdresses
